Born in 1983 and raised in the Northern German countryside, Melanie had a pretty easygoing upbringing, involving lots of horses, dogs, cats, and other farm animals she attemped to adopt during childhood years. Fortunately for her parents, she only made it to one lovely dog and later and for lesser time one lovely stubborn horse. But there were others, animals that is, and her interest and undying devotion to them made her want to become a vetenerian from when she was five years old. Astronaut was never an option because flying never grew on her (still hasn't to this day) and pirate was difficult as there wasn't even a pond nearby.
As a kid she told stories, mostly to herself or to some involuntarily attending pets, which in retrospective is a bit unnerving but then maybe it can be excused having eventually made it her ultimate goal in life.
Jumping a few many years of exhausting teenager-dom ahead she graduated from the Gymnasium in 2002 and left for Dublin.Dublin was a fabulous year of hard work, learning lines, going shopping, drinking, and pretending to develop an understanding for what's important in life. Melanie met some outstanding folk and, knowing that she can't turn back time, she would love for someone to invent her a time machine. That way she would be able to travel back exactly to that year, when growing-up naively felt so very far away.
Then she started university in 2003, moving to London and receiving a wake up call. When Dublin was a fairy's castle, London was the dingy home of a grumpy old man. But whereas flying still didn't, London grew on her. And she stayed, fell in love the odd number times, worked hard, partied lots, and finished her BA in 'Film Studies with Arts Management' in 2006.
Since the beginning of 2007 she have been working as a freelancer and it has been quite the ride. It has been frustrating, yes, but it is also a process she says she is very grateful for.
